Statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, a topic of enduring debate, received renewed assurance from Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He affirmed the promise but refrained from specifying when it would be fulfilled during his address at the Times Now Summit 2025.
The minister emphasized the peaceful nature of last year's assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Describing it as the first such election in four decades without re-polling, Shah noted a significant voter turnout with 60 percent participation.
Shah also contrasted the current situation with past conflicts, highlighting that no instances of tear gas or shooting occurred. This comes after the 2019 decision to abrogate Article 370 and bifurcate the region, with a standing commitment to eventually restore its statehood.
