Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on Saturday the transfer of Rs 505 crore ex-gratia to 23,162 worker families under the 'Mukhya Mantri Jan Kalyan (Sambal) Yojana.'
Speaking from the state secretariat, Yadav highlighted the extension of the scheme to gig and platform workers in line with a NITI Aayog initiative. These workers are now eligible for identical benefits as those in the traditional sectors, including access to subsidized food via ration cards from state and central schemes.
The Sambal Yojana is a crucial welfare program providing financial support in cases of death, disability, and maternity, alongside educational and medical aid. Since its inception in April 2018, it has registered 1.74 crore workers, with over Rs 5,927 crore in benefits extended to more than 6.58 lakh cases.
