In a swift response to the recent devastating earthquake, India dispatched approximately 15 tonnes of relief materials to Myanmar on Saturday. The supplies, transported via a C130J military aircraft, aim to aid those affected by the catastrophic tremor that struck both Myanmar and neighbouring Thailand on Friday. Reports confirm at least 144 fatalities in Myanmar.

The crucial aid package includes essential items such as tents, sleeping bags, blankets, ready-to-eat meals, water purifiers, solar lamps, generator sets, and vital medicines. Officials highlighted the significance of this timely assistance in providing immediate relief to the earthquake-affected regions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep concern over the calamity and assured that India is prepared to extend comprehensive support to both Myanmar and Thailand. Modi stated on social media that Indian authorities are on standby, and the Ministry of External Affairs is in contact with the respective governments of the impacted countries to coordinate further aid efforts.
