A City Divided: Duterte's Supporters Rally While Others Demand Justice
On his 80th birthday, tens of thousands rallied in Davao City for former President Rodrigo Duterte's return from ICC custody, where he's held on charges from his anti-drug campaign. Despite displays of support, smaller protests in Manila demanded justice for the thousands of deaths allegedly ordered by him.

Tens of thousands of supporters gathered in Davao City to celebrate the 80th birthday of former President Rodrigo Duterte, calling for his return from the International Criminal Court (ICC), where he faces charges related to his controversial anti-drug crackdown.
Despite widespread support in Davao City, where Duterte served as mayor, the streets of Manila saw opposing rallies. A significant portion of the population believes he should answer for the allegations of deadly abuses during his time in office.
As Duterte awaits his legal fate, he maintains his stance that police actions were justified, advocating for his provisional release while opponents continue to insist on holding him accountable for alleged crimes against humanity.
