The Delhi police have apprehended six suspected illegal Bangladeshi migrants, who disguised themselves as transgender women in an attempt to evade detection. The arrests took place in the Jahangirpuri area, officials reported on Friday.
To blend into the local transgender community, the suspects underwent minor surgeries and hormonal treatments. They were also found in possession of mobile phones with banned communication applications used to contact family in Bangladesh, according to the police.
The individuals were handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office for deportation proceedings. Delhi's Home Minister emphasized the government's stance against illegal infiltration, vowing a crackdown on such activities. The arrests followed a ten-day surveillance drive targeting illegal migration.
