US Boosts Rohingya Aid with $73 Million Pledge
The US government has announced a $73 million aid package for Rohingya refugees, ensuring food rations remain stable amidst budget cut concerns. This aid aims to provide essential food and nutrition support for over a million Rohingya in Bangladesh, easing concerns about potential reductions in food assistance.

The United States government has pledged $73 million in new financial aid to support Rohingya refugees, securing essential food supplies and addressing concerns over potential ration cuts. This development comes as a relief to the over one million refugees who feared a reduction in their monthly food aid.
The provision of aid was confirmed by the World Food Programme, ensuring that refugees in Cox's Bazar and Bhashan Char island will continue receiving between $12 to $13 monthly. This commitment highlights the need for international partnerships in sharing the financial burden of life-saving assistance, according to US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
Since 2017, the United States has been a primary supporter of the Rohingya refugees, contributing approximately $2.4 billion. The aid package, announced ahead of Eid al-Fitr, has been warmly received by the refugee community, although challenges remain regarding their potential repatriation to Myanmar.
