In a significant verdict delivered by a Bareilly district court, two brothers, Baburam and Bhagwan Das, have been sentenced to life imprisonment for a murder committed 16 years ago. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 22,000 on each of them, marking the conclusion of a prolonged legal battle.

The case stems from the murder of 65-year-old Ramdulare in Gahara village on May 13, 2009. As per the prosecution, an altercation at a wedding feast turned deadly when Baburam, Bhagwan Das, and their associates got into a brawl, resulting in Ramdulare's intervention and subsequent murder.

Throughout the trial, eight witnesses were presented, leading to the conviction of the brothers. However, two other accused, Omkar and Harpal, were acquitted due to lack of evidence. The verdict brings closure to a long-standing case marred by initial confusion and uncertainty.
