Maharashtra Cyber has effectively solved five cases of online fraud totaling Rs 1.47 crore in the past 48 hours, including a significant whale phishing scam targeting a Bhiwandi-based travel agency.

The travel agency lost Rs 90 lakh after fraudsters, impersonating an owner, duped the firm's accountant through WhatsApp. However, quick action by Maharashtra Cyber ensured the amount was frozen before reaching the criminals.

Authorities highlighted the importance of rapid communication with banks and stakeholders to successfully recover and refund the funds, reinforcing efforts to fight cybercrime.
