The Supreme Court on Friday took decisive action, instructing the director general of Punjab Police to establish a special investigation team (SIT) to re-examine the alleged murder of a woman by her husband and his accomplice.
A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh responded to a plea from the victim's father, contesting the bail granted to her spouse by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2021.
In a move underscoring the gravity of the situation, the top court has mandated the establishment of a three-member SIT, setting a three-month deadline for the investigation to be concluded.
