The husband of a 32-year-old woman, whose body was discovered in a suitcase within a Bengaluru flat, has emerged as the main suspect in the case. The suspect is receiving medical care in Pune after an alleged suicide attempt, according to reports from police on Friday.
The victim, identified as Gauri Khedekar, was a Maharashtra native and had recently moved to Bengaluru with her husband. Her body, found with multiple stab wounds, was located inside a flat's bathroom. In a press briefing, City Police Commissioner B Dayananda confirmed the registration of a case implicating the woman's husband as the primary suspect.
Police investigations suggest a marital dispute may have fueled the murder. Gauri's husband, Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar, fled to Pune post-crime and reportedly tried to end his life with poison. Efforts are ongoing to transfer him back to Bengaluru for extensive interrogation.
