A Dutch national, aged 60, was detained attempting to cross into India from Nepal without appropriate visas, according to authorities on Thursday. The arrest was made by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in Sonauli during routine checks.
The suspect, named Palas Johannes Theodorus, possessed a valid Netherlands passport and Nepal tourist visa but lacked necessary Indian documentation. This led to his detention, explained Additional Superintendent of Police, Atish Kumar Singh.
Authorities are pursuing legal proceedings and questioning Theodorus to ascertain his motives and investigate potential criminal affiliations. A formal case has been lodged, and the Intelligence Bureau has been alerted to further probe the incident, Singh stated.
