The former Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Vikram Srivastava, passed away on Thursday at the age of 73 following a brief illness, officials reported.

Srivastava, a remarkable figure in law enforcement, served in various key positions, including headships at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD), before retiring in 2012. His tenure included leadership during the devastating 2010 Naxal ambush in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada.

Praised for his visionary approach, Srivastava was remembered by colleagues for his efforts to enhance the conditions for personnel in challenging environments. The CRPF paid tribute to him on social media, recognizing his foresight and inspiration. A condolence meeting and funeral will be held on Friday.
