German Chancellor Olaf Scholz strongly criticized U.S. President Donald Trump's recent decision to impose tariffs on automobiles. Speaking on Thursday, Scholz stated that such a move is misguided and detrimental.
He warned that this path, characterized by tariffs and isolationism, leads exclusively to losses for everyone involved. Scholz reiterated that these measures harm global prosperity rather than protect it.
Additionally, German government officials underlined their commitment, alongside the European Union, to uphold free trade principles. The European Commission, as the EU's executive body, will spearhead efforts to safeguard these economic foundations.
