Anil Saxena, a notorious criminal with a lengthy record, was apprehended by police after a dramatic high-speed chase that culminated in a gunfight near the Hindon river barrage early Thursday morning. Saxena, involved in multiple criminal activities, including a jewellery shop heist, was captured after his vehicle crashed during the pursuit.
The chase began when police conducting routine checks signaled Saxena to stop. Instead, he sped away, prompting officers to pursue him until his car crashed into a divider. Upon finding himself cornered, Saxena opened fire at officers, who shot him in the leg in self-defense before making the arrest.
Following his arrest, police identified Saxena and uncovered a cache of stolen gold and silver ornaments along with a country-made pistol in his vehicle. Saxena confessed to his involvement in prior robberies during interrogation and revealed plans for future heists, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhishek Srivastav.
