The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has raised objections against the BJP-led government in Madhya Pradesh for prohibiting prisoner-family gatherings during Eid. This decision contradicts the long-standing practice of allowing inmates to meet their relatives on significant festivals, according to CPM general secretary Jaswinder Singh.

Singh highlighted a notice from Bhopal Central Jail indicating that no open meetings would be allowed during Eid, citing security concerns due to ongoing construction work within the prison compound.

The CPM has condemned this move, arguing that it undermines India's tradition of cultural unity and the celebration of diverse festivals with harmony, and has requested that allowances for such meetings be reinstated.
