The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police have made history with the filing of a chargesheet in connection to the largest mid-sea drug haul in India's history. The seizure, involving 6,016 kg of methamphetamine, is valued at an astounding Rs 36,000 crore.

The charges were filed in the Special NDPS Court in Port Blair, following a comprehensive investigation that traced links to an international drug syndicate operating in the 'Golden Triangle' area bordering Myanmar, Thailand, and Laos. Six Myanmarese crew members, initially heading towards Thailand, were apprehended on a trawler drifting into Indian waters.

Under the supervision of DGP HS Dhaliwal, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) collected extensive electronic evidence and forensic reports, culminating in a 2000-page chargesheet. The crew members now face serious charges under the NDPS Act and the Foreigners Act, highlighting the region's growing challenges with international drug trafficking.
