An investigation team in Assam has unearthed evidence suggesting that an individual in India was on Pakistan's payroll for three years, according to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The probe kicked off amidst a backdrop of controversy related to alleged ISI connections involving Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi's British wife. This led to the Assam police filing an FIR and setting up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to scrutinize the activities of Pakistan's Ali Tauqeer Sheikh.

Sheikh, linked with the Pakistan Planning Commission and a former colleague of Gogoi's wife, faces charges under serious legal sections. The SIT, led by Assam's Director General of Police, Harmeet Singh, has uncovered what they describe as 'irrefutable documents' detailing this financial link.
