The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has taken decisive action against corruption involving an Indian electricity distribution firm. A contractual wireman with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd, working in Palghar, was caught demanding a bribe.
Rajesh Chandrakant More, the accused, was apprehended while accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe. This followed a complaint from a local resident who sought electricity for his shrimp farm. The bribe was allegedly demanded by More to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the project.
Following the complaint, the ACB set a trap to catch More in the act. He has now been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act, with investigations continuing to uncover further details in this case.
