Members of the Opposition in Parliament have raised serious concerns following the revelation of an alleged discovery of cash at the home of Justice Yashwant Varma. Congress MP Manish Tewari led the charge, urging Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal to clarify the situation in the Lok Sabha.
During the Zero Hour, Tewari and others expressed alarm at potential aberrations within the judiciary, deeming it crucial for the Union Law Minister to shed light on the events as Parliament holds supervisory power over the judiciary.
Kalyan Banerjee of the TMC, supported by Congress MP R Sudha, questioned why investigations into judicial corruption remain stifled without explicit approval from the Chief Justice. Meanwhile, an in-house inquiry by the Supreme Court has been initiated to resolve the controversy.
