Suspected Islamist militants attacked an army base and outpost in Nigeria's Borno State, killing at least 16 and injuring numerous others. Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters used drones before a ground assault, with reports of looted weapons and charred military equipment. Multinational forces continue to fight the insurgency.

Suspected Islamist militants have intensified their attacks in Nigeria's northeastern Borno State, coordinating a deadly assault on military installations. Security sources report that fighters associated with Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province have once again targeted active military positions, resulting in the loss of military personnel and further destabilization in the region.
The coordinated attack involved the use of drones, followed by a ground offensive on the Wajiroko army base late Monday night. Despite military reinforcements, the extremists managed to seize weapons and cause significant damage, underscoring their remaining capabilities despite ongoing military pressure.
Cameroon's Defense Ministry confirmed that insurgents raided an outpost near Fotokol, firmly in the path of multinational task forces aimed at quelling the insurgency. The assaults highlight the insurgents' adaptation and resilience amidst a backdrop of regional insecurity, aggravated by a growing humanitarian crisis.
