The Delhi High Court expressed dissatisfaction with the authorities' efforts to protect designated forest areas in the capital, urging immediate vigilance and remedial actions. The court highlighted the lack of seriousness by agencies like Delhi Police and the Forest Department towards safeguarding these vital green zones.
Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya and Judge Tushar Rao Gedela observed breaches in forest boundary walls and directed comprehensive inspections by Delhi Police. Noting concerns raised by Amicus Curiae Kailash Vasudev regarding encroachments, the court demanded detailed reports from the conservator of forests and the ridge management board.
The court also instructed the DDA to expedite the repair of damaged boundary walls and remove encroachments. It mandated that all inspections be thoroughly documented through photographs and videos, with status reports to be filed by the next hearing date.
