Jamia Millia Islamia has officially terminated an assistant professor from its Department of Political Science after his arrest related to the alleged rape of a fellow lecturer at the institution. The accused, a contractual staff, reportedly engaged in physical relations with the 31-year-old complainant, promising marriage.

The university, emphasizing its zero-tolerance policy towards violence against women, acted swiftly upon confirming the arrest. A statement from JMI clarified that the terminated individual was not a permanent faculty member. An FIR has been registered, with police investigating the alleged manipulation under the guise of marriage, which was abandoned following familial disputes.
