Kolkata police have arrested eight individuals, including five members of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), connected to a robbery during a faked income tax raid on March 18.
The impostors, posing as income tax officers, targeted Vinita Singh's residence, seizing Rs 3 lakh in cash, Rs 25 lakh in jewelry, and a DVR linked to CCTV cameras. The absence of a seizure list raised suspicions, leading to a complaint and subsequent police investigation.
The investigation revealed familial disputes involving Vinita Singh and her stepmother, Arati. Arati allegedly colluded with a CISF inspector to orchestrate the crime. Arrests were made following meticulous police work involving CCTV analysis and extensive interrogations. The search for other suspects is ongoing.
