The European Commission is closely monitoring discussions between the United States, Ukraine, and Russia that aim to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea. The EU has underscored the importance of assessing Russia's actions over its rhetoric, according to a spokesperson's statement on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the United States secured individual agreements with both Ukraine and Russia. These agreements aim to cease hostilities at sea and against energy infrastructures, marking a significant diplomatic effort by the Biden administration.
EU foreign affairs spokesperson Anitta Hipper emphasized that to end its illegal and unprovoked aggression, Russia must demonstrate genuine political will. The EU's stance remains firm that Russia's commitments should be measured through its actions and not its declarations.
