The hijacking, attributed to the Baloch Liberation Army, a banned separatist organization, involved 440 passengers. The following day, Pakistani Army forces eliminated the attackers, rescuing 354 hostages. This incident is part of a broader increase in attacks across Balochistan.
According to sources in the Counter-Terrorism Department, a joint task force is probing the incident. Evidence, including weapons and communications devices, has been collected for forensic analysis, while efforts to identify the attackers through national databases continue. The attack signifies a rise in insurgency within the region, which frequently targets security and economic projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
