In a heated session of the Lok Sabha, Congress whip Manickam Tagore accused Union Minister Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani of delivering misleading information regarding MGNREGS funding. Tagore has consequently filed a notice to move a privilege motion against Pemmasani.
Tagore pointed out that the minister's statements during a recent Question Hour were inaccurate, claiming Tamil Nadu receives more MGNREGS funding than Uttar Pradesh based on population size. According to Tagore, official data indicates that such allocations are demand-based, not population-based.
Highlighting the importance of factual integrity in parliamentary discussions, Tagore urged Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to address the issue, requesting Pemmasani clarify the statements and correct the public record.
