The Delhi High Court has granted permission for Jammu and Kashmir Member of Parliament Abdul Rashid Sheikh to attend the current session of Parliament, albeit 'in-custody'.
The decision, made by a bench of Justices Chandra Dhari Singh and Anup Jairam Bhambhani, includes a provision for police to escort Rashid, also known as Engineer Rashid, to Parliament and back to jail from March 26 to April 4.
Rashid is facing trial under UAPA for a 2017 terror funding case and has been denied traditional bail options. The court has imposed conditions, including a phone ban and no media interactions, during his attendance at the Lok Sabha sessions. Rashid is contesting a prior court ruling that denied his request for custody parole or interim bail.
