During a press conference, ADGP-Greater Chennai Police Commissioner A Arun detailed the quick succession of events leading to the death of Jaffer, who hid a pistol in his motorcycle. The confrontation occurred as police attempted to recover stolen items and caught members of the gang as they tried to leave the city.

On Tuesday, two gang members were apprehended, and the third was arrested in Andhra Pradesh. The suspects were linked to six chain-snatching incidents in Chennai. The Irani gang, infamous for their 'attention diversion' crimes, is primarily based in Maharashtra but operates nationwide.
