In a sharp rebuke to Washington, China's foreign ministry on Wednesday urged the United States to shed its 'hegemonic mentality' after the U.S. designated China as its top military and cyber threat.
Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun accused the U.S. of propagating baseless theories aimed at containing and suppressing China, escalating diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
Guo further pressed the U.S. to cease its backing of Taiwan independence activities, adding fuel to the already strained bilateral relations.
