A significant ruling by the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) has resulted in a Rs 28 lakh compensation for the family of accident victim, Sanjay Krishna Patil. Patil tragically lost his life in a road mishap in 2018 in Thane.

The claim was filed by his surviving family members, stating Patil was hit by a rashly-driven dumper truck while he was on his scooter. The incident occurred on the Thane-Nashik highway on the morning of July 10, 2018.

Despite arguments from ICICI Lombard General Insurance that the dumper driver lacked a valid license, the MACT chairman ruled in favor of the petitioners. The compensation, which includes substantial loss of income, is to be provided with a 7.5% annual interest from the petition's filing date.
