Narain Singh Chaura has been granted bail following charges of opening fire at Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal in December. The shooting occurred at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
After the incident, Chaura was arrested and faced legal action under the Arms Act, among other provisions. Chaura's bail was approved by the Additional Sessions Judge of Amritsar, Sumit Ghai, on the grounds that there was no benefit in holding him for an indefinite period while the trial remains pending.
The 68-year-old is scheduled for release from Ropar jail, a decision that has made headlines due to the attack's earlier media coverage during Badal's religious duties at the Sikh shrine.
