Former Maradona Bodyguard Arrested in Trial Over Soccer Legend's Death
A former bodyguard of Diego Maradona, Julio César Coria, has been arrested for allegedly providing false testimony during the trial of Maradona's medical team. Seven healthcare professionals are accused of negligence in Maradona's 2020 death. Coria's contradiction of key witness statements led to his arrest.

Julio César Coria, once a bodyguard for the late soccer legend Diego Maradona, has been arrested amid the high-profile trial investigating the medical negligence in Maradona's death. The arrest followed accusations of false testimony during his court appearance.
Coria claimed he saw a nurse and a psychiatrist performing CPR on Maradona at the time of death. However, prosecutors pointed to inconsistencies in Coria's statements, particularly concerning his relationship with neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, one of the defendants.
The trial scrutinizes seven healthcare professionals charged with negligence in Maradona's death in 2020. Testimony from Maradona's daughter further implicated Coria and others in opting for inadequate home care against medical advice.
