India and China recently held a diplomatic dialogue in Beijing to address key issues such as effective border management and the resumption of cross-border cooperation, including exchanges over trans-border rivers and the Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra.
During the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) meeting, both sides explored ways to implement decisions made at previous talks, particularly those between NSA Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that peace and tranquillity on the border are critical for maintaining healthy bilateral relations.
The meeting set the groundwork for the upcoming Special Representatives dialogue in India, focusing on maintaining peace along the Line of Actual Control in areas like eastern Ladakh. Around 50,000 to 60,000 troops from each nation are currently stationed there, highlighting the need for ongoing diplomatic dialogue.
