In a significant development, the state CID has apprehended eight individuals, including five jawans from the Indian Reserve Battalion, linked to an alleged paper leak during a recruitment examination in Jharkhand. The examination was conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) last September.
Despite the arrests, the CID has not discovered any concrete evidence of the actual question papers being leaked. Investigations have unveiled that a group was extorting money from candidates, promising them access to the exam papers ahead of the examination, thus stirring public concern over the rumors of malpractice.
The individuals arrested include Kundan Kumar alias Mantu, Robin Kumar, Akhilesh Kumar, Gaurav Kumar, and Abhilash Kumar—jawans from the IRB—alongside Ram Niwas Rai from Assam Rifles, Niwas Kumar Rai from the Home Guard, and Kaviraj alias Motu. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek further clarity on the situation.
