In a series of operations reflecting heightened vigilance, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel successfully intercepted smuggling attempts along the West Bengal border. Seventeen cattle and 851 bottles of banned cough syrup were seized, underscoring their ongoing commitment to secure the India-Bangladesh border.
During the intervening night of March 24-25, a quick-thinking jawan at a Malda district border outpost spotted several individuals approaching with cattle. Alerting colleagues, he acted promptly to deter the gang, firing two shots for self-defense. The smugglers scattered into the night, leaving behind the cattle.
Further efforts led to the recovery of more cattle from Malda and Nadia districts. The BSF also confiscated banned items, including Phensedyl syrup and ganja, during other raids. These operations exemplify the BSF's effective strategy in combating smuggling and maintaining border security.
