Goa's Police Force Faces Acute Personnel Shortage
Goa's Chief Minister Pramod Sawant revealed that the state's police force is short of nearly 1,000 personnel. The Goa police department is grappling with a significant manpower crisis, as highlighted by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in the legislative assembly. With a sanctioned strength of 7,791, the force faces a shortfall of 910 personnel.
In response to BJP MLA Ulhas Naik Tuenkar's inquiry, Sawant disclosed that the shortage spans all ranks, with the post of Additional Director General of Police still vacant. Key positions such as Superintendent of Police and Deputy Commandant in the India Reserve Battalion also remain unfilled.
The data shared reveals that only 26 out of 42 Deputy Superintendent of Police positions are currently occupied, and the post of Police Sub-Inspector sees the highest deficit with 331 positions filled out of 514. This shortage extends to head constables and constables, impacting overall functionality.
