New Faces on Manual Scavenging Reform Committee: Chavda Vinod Lakhamshi and Bhola Singh

In a recent move to revamp the oversight of manual scavenging reforms, BJP MPs Chavda Vinod Lakhamshi and Bhola Singh have been appointed to the committee responsible for implementing the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment issued these new appointments, further amending previous notifications as part of the Act's ongoing evolution. These updates have been made under Section 29(2)(f) to align committee memberships with current requirements.

This announcement follows several past revisions, with previous changes noted in 2014, 2017, and most recently in 2023. The Act's primary aim remains to eradicate manual scavenging and secure rehabilitation for those involved in unsafe sanitation practices.
