The Indian Army has called for a transparent and timely investigation into the alleged assault on Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath by Punjab Police personnel. The incident, which occurred over a parking dispute in Patiala, has led to demands for accountability and justice from senior Army officers.
Colonel Bath, who has accused 12 Punjab Police officers of assaulting him and his son, filed a plea in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking the transfer of the investigation to an independent agency like the CBI. In response, the Punjab Police has suspended the accused officers and initiated departmental proceedings.
A Special Investigation Team has been established to handle the probe, and the Army, along with the police leadership, have emphasized the importance of maintaining the historical camaraderie between their forces while ensuring a fair investigation concludes swiftly.
