In a somber development, officials announced the discovery of another body from the partially collapsed Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project tunnel, months after the initial incident. The latest retrieval brings the total number of bodies found to two, as rescue teams continue their exhaustive efforts.
The deceased, whose identity remains unknown, was transported to a hospital for post-mortem analysis in accordance with standard procedures. The tragic collapse, which took place on February 22, had initially trapped eight individuals, including engineers and laborers.
The recovery of the first body, that of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) operator Gurpreet Singh, occurred on March 9. Despite the efforts of 700 personnel from various agencies, operations remain hindered by challenging conditions within the tunnel, located 14 kilometers from the entrance with limited ventilation and lighting.
