In a disturbing case from Thane, a 42-year-old man fell victim to a massive cryptocurrency scam, losing Rs 82 lakh to cyber fraudsters.

Law enforcement officials from Kasarwadavli police station revealed that the swindlers, identified through mobile numbers, contacted the victim via social media in December, persuading him to invest in cryptocurrency.

The defrauders facilitated transactions through provided online links, which led to the victim transferring funds between December 18 and January 6. The scam came to light when the con artists severed all communication. Police are diligently tracing digital and financial footprints to apprehend the criminals.
