Massive Narcotics Destruction: Pune's Bold Step Against Drug Menace

In a significant move against drug trafficking, Pune police began the systematic destruction of 800 kg of narcotics, valued at Rs 8 crore. These substances were confiscated in over 70 separate cases, according to a recent official release.
The destruction process is being conducted at the Ranjangaon MIDC facility under the supervision of officials from the pollution control board, excise and revenue departments, forensics, and law enforcement. The contraband includes a range of narcotics like mephedrone and ganja.
Pune Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar, confirmed the ongoing destruction of narcotics and reported that the 1,800 kg of mephedrone, valued at more than Rs 3,500 crore, seized last year, is also nearing complete disposal. This initiative reflects Pune's commitment to eradicating narcotics from the region.
