In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, the Excise Department announced the arrest of four individuals, including a 36-year-old woman and her 21-year-old son, on Monday. The arrests took place during a vehicle inspection at the Walayar Excise check post.
The suspects were found in possession of 13.24 grams of MDMA, a potent party drug. This operation was part of the department's 'Operation Clean Slate', a targeted initiative to curb illicit activities and ensure public safety.
The arrested individuals had traveled from Bengaluru carrying the drugs, likely intended for sale. The operation was led by Inspector A Murugadas, who said the team also discovered other items associated with drug use and distribution.
