Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district have ramped up their efforts to neutralize a group of alleged terrorists. A significant cache of arms, including M4 carbine assault rifle magazines and grenades, was seized as operations intensified on Monday, following a fierce gunfight.
The operation, personally led by Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, began on Sunday evening and included aerial surveillance and additional deployment of specialized units. Despite a reported firefight, there have been no casualties, but the hunt continues for the infiltrators.
Local residents report an atmosphere of fear, with some recounting encounters with armed men. Recent incidents in the region highlight ongoing security challenges, as Kathua emerges as a significant infiltration route for terrorists into higher districts.
