Fraud Investigation: Maharashtra IPS Officer Questioned
Maharashtra IPS officer Rashmi Karandikar was questioned by the Economic Offences Wing concerning fraud cases against her husband, Purushottam Chavan. Rashmi Karandikar, an IPS officer from Maharashtra, presented herself before the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Monday amid an investigation into two fraud cases against her husband, Purushottam Chavan. An official confirmed her visit took place at 6 pm and lasted about an hour.
The EOW has filed two separate cases against Chavan. The first involves allegations of defrauding 20 individuals of Rs 24.78 crore by falsely offering government quota flats in Mumbai, Thane, and Pune at reduced rates. The second case pertains to a Surat-based businessman and others being swindled of Rs 7.42 crore.
During her EOW visit, Karandikar was questioned about financial interactions with her husband. She had been previously summoned on March 13 but didn't attend, prompting plans for a second summon. However, she voluntarily appeared at the EOW office on Monday.
