A 28-year-old woman from Mumbai faced a harrowing ordeal after being allegedly lured to Hyderabad under false pretenses and subsequently trapped in a prostitution racket. Police have confirmed the incident after receiving the victim's distress call on Dial-100, promptly responding to unlock her captivity.
Initially enticed with a job offer to open a clothing showroom for Rs 20,000, the victim found herself locked and beaten by three women in a flat, who fled the scene just before police arrival. Reports speculating her as a Bollywood or TV actress were clarified by officials, citing her previous work at a Dubai nightclub.
The incident has prompted police to register a case under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, as they actively search for the culprits, including a mediator from Mumbai who orchestrated her trip to Hyderabad.
