The Allahabad High Court Bar Association is set to commence an indefinite strike from March 25, in response to the transfer of Justice Yashwant Varma to the Allahabad High Court. The announcement was made by Anil Tiwari, President of the Bar body, who emphasized that the strike will begin on Tuesday.
This decision comes in the wake of the Supreme Court collegium's confirmation on Monday regarding Justice Varma's transfer. The judge, who is currently facing an enquiry due to the alleged discovery of a significant amount of cash at his official residence, had his judicial responsibilities suspended.
Tiwari also indicated that a request is being sent to Bar Associations in Lucknow to garner support for the strike. The legal fraternity in Allahabad is expressing strong opposition to the transfer, especially given the circumstances surrounding Justice Varma's current situation.
