The Communist Party of India (CPI) spearheaded a significant protest march in Ranchi, advocating for recognition and the installation of statues honoring Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Jaipal Singh Munda in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.
The march, led by CPI National General Secretary D. Raja, drew attention to the delayed commemoration of these influential figures in Jharkhand's history and criticized the exploitation of the state's natural resources by corporate entities. Raja argued that both central and state governments are complicit in the depletion of Jharkhand's valuable mineral wealth.
Alongside statue-related demands, protesters called for the annulment of the land bank, the establishment of Scheduled Caste and Displacement Commissions, the implementation of employment policies, and a new minimum wage. The demonstration, which commenced at Saheed Maidan in Dhurwa, was intercepted by security forces en route to the assembly.
