A court has scheduled the bail hearing of Zafar Ali, leader of the Shahi Jama Masjid Management Committee, for March 27. Ali faces multiple charges following unrest related to a mosque survey protest.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Nirbhay Narain Rai requested the prosecution to furnish the case diary by the hearing date. Ali, currently detained at Moradabad jail, insists he did not incite the riots and claims wrongful implication.
The local legal community is rallying around Ali, with a pen-down strike in Sambhal protesting what they view as an effort to suppress his testimony in an ongoing judicial commission probe into the protest violence.
