In a bid to accelerate recovery efforts following severe monsoon-induced calamities, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to expedite the release of Rs 9,042 crore under the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment for 2023-24.
The appeals came after devastating floods and landslides claimed approximately 550 lives in the state during the 2023 monsoon season. Alongside disaster relief discussions, Chief Minister Sukhu highlighted a significant decline in drug-related cases, crediting upcoming legislation in the Vidhan Sabha as a proactive measure.
The internal dynamics of the Himachal Pradesh Congress also took center stage, with party in-charge Rajni Patil coordinating closely. The restructuring follows Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's decision to dissolve the state's party unit on November 6, 2024.
