Karnataka's Task Force for Regulatory Streamlining
The Karnataka government has formed a state-level task force to expedite the implementation of strategies discussed in a recent meeting aimed at simplifying regulations. Chaired by Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, the focus is on aiding MSMEs by easing compliance in areas such as construction permits and labour reforms.

The Karnataka government has taken a significant step toward easing business regulations by forming a state-level task force. The decision came after a crucial meeting held on March 21, chaired by Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, aimed at Compliance Reduction and Deregulation.
The meeting extensively explored methods to rationalise procedures related to land use changes, building plan approvals, construction permits, and labour reforms. It also touched on decriminalising minor procedural offences where feasible, and re-evaluating urban and rural zoning norms that impact industrial plots.
In attendance was Manoj Joshi, Secretary of the Department of Land Resources, alongside senior Karnataka officials like Uma Mahadevan and Rajender Kumar Kataria, all contributing to discussions on increasing affordable housing projects and the systematic use of land in both industrial and private parks.
